Disciplinary Action. Corrective Action. Progressive Discipline. Due Diligence. No matter what you call it, there is an effective way and an ineffective way to manage performance problems.
This three hour workshop introduces supervisors to the concept of understanding the difference between performance problems that can be managed and performance problems that must be documented and stopped and how they affect the company. Supervisors learn how to determine the severity of a performance problem, identify causes, “tough love”, and how to conduct effective feedback sessions that work for both the company and the employee. The class includes activities that cover conducting an effective disciplinary meeting, writing a performance improvement plan and the importance of the follow-up meeting with an employee. Learning Objectives - How to identify dysfunctional behavior that can result in performance problems.
- How to identify the causes of an employee's performance problems.
- How to prepare a performance improvement plan.
- How to provide effective feedback sessions with an employee with a performance problem.
- Understanding the “tough love” approach.
- How to change the tone from discipline to performance improvement.
